Concepts that will be used in unit 1.

Conduction shape factor
Noun
The relationship between the energy intercepted by one surface and the total emitted by the other.
Example: The heat conduction process depends on the basic conduction form factor.
es: Factor de forma de conducción
Convection resistance
Noun
It is the resistance to the heat transmitted in a liquid or in a gas as a consequence of the real movement of the heated particles within it.
Example: Fourier's law of conduction is typically used for thermal conduction calculations and Newton's law of cooling is used for calculations of thermal convection resistance.
es: Resistencia a la convección
Critical radius of insulation
Noun
Is the measure of the radius of an insulator in which the heat transfer is maximum or the resistance of the heat flow is very low.
Example: The critical radius of insulation is a counterintuitive concept within the study of heat transfer.
es: Radio crítico de aislamiento
Cylinder conduction resistance
Noun
It is the resistance to the one-dimensional steady-state flow of heat through a cylindrical layer.
Example: The cylinder conduction resistance is better when the cylinder is hollow and with convective surface conditions in thermal conduction.
es: Resistencia de conducción del cilindro
Efficiency
Noun
Is the ability to have someone or something to achieve the proper fulfillment of a function.
Example: Streamlining cars increases their fuel efficiency.
es: Eficiencia
Fin effectiveness
Noun
Is the relationship between the heat (Qf) that is transferred from a fin under certain conditions.
Example: The efficiency of the fin is related to the heat transferred by a fin and the heat that would have been transferred if the entire surface of the fin was at the base.
es: Eficacia de la aleta
Fin efficiency
Noun
It is the performance of solid fins that transfer heat by conduction along their geometry and by convection through their environment.
Example: Fin efficiency deals with the actual heat transfer that takes place from the fin and the heat that would be dissipated from the same surface without fin.
es: Eficiencia de las aletas
Interface resistance
Noun
Is the resistance to heat flow caused by imperfect contact between two materials at an interface.
Example: The interface resistance is also known as thermal limit resistance or kapitza resistance.
es: Resistencia de interfaz
Plane wall conduction resistance
Noun
It is the resistance to uniform and constant heat generation per unit volume.
Example: For the Plane wall conduction resistance, a flat wall of homogeneous material through which the heat flows is generally considered.
es: Resistencia a la conducción de la pared plana
Radiation resistance
Noun
Is the act of manufacturing electronic components and systems resistant to damage or malfunction caused by radiation.
Example: Radiation resistance is measured as the value of the resistance that would dissipate the same amount of energy radiated by the antenna in the form of radio waves with the incoming current from the antenna passing through it.
es: Resistencia a la radiación
Sphere conduction resistance
Noun
It is the resistance to the one-dimensional flow of heat in steady state through a spherical layer.
Example: The conduction resistance of the sphere of inner radius r1, outer radius r2 and made of a material of constant thermal conductivity must be taken into account.
es: Resistencia a la conducción de la esfera
Surfaces
Noun
A set of points in a Euclidean space that forms a three-dimensional topological space, which locally.
Example: The surface had been filed smooth.
es: Superficies
Thermal contact conductance
Noun
It is a measure of heat transfer through materials, made up of one or more layers, and under laboratory conditions.
Example: In thermal contact conductance, heat conduction between solid bodies in thermal contact is studied.
es: Conductancia de contacto térmico
Thermal contact resistance
Noun
It is the resistance that represents the conduction of heat between two solid bodies.
Example: In resistance to thermal contact there is a heat flow between two solids in contact and temperature distribution.
es: Resistencia al contacto térmico
Total thermal resistance
Noun
It is the ability of the material to oppose the flow of temperature.
Example: These compounds were specifically developed to improve the total thermal resistance of PLA.
es: Resistencia térmica total
